5 Anti-Aging Makeup Tricks

The make-up tricks you learned in the 80’s aren’t working for you anymore. While Botox and filler cosmetic procedures can lift and turn back the hands of time, what you don’t know is that your makeup could actually be the one aging you. As we age, our skin naturally becomes thinner, the elastin and collagen breaks down, and our skin begins to lose its luster and appears dull.

Have no fear ladies, there are simple makeup tricks you can do to get back that luster and glow, instantly.

1. Thick Foundation

Using a foundation that is too light or too heavy is aging the heck out of you. Instead, choose a sheer foundation or a tinted moisturizer. Nurse Jamie’s BB Cream primes, tints, nourishes, evens out skin tone and helps to strengthen and protect skin on contact. After application, press a damp makeup sponge (a personal favorite is Beauty Blender) into areas where you have wrinkles to soak up any excess. “We are not painting a house,” says makeup artist Alex Perkins. Using your concealer sparingly with sheer coverage gives you a youthful glow.

2. Moisturize and Protect the largest organ of your body – Your Skin!

Your best makeup purchase is a great moisturizer, like Nurse Jamie’s Vitamin Infused Moisturizer. For best results, combine anti-aging makeup and anti-aging products — let them work in harmony.

A good facial moisturizer can also double as a good eye cream, but if you’re worried about minimizing fine lines and wrinkles or reducing dark circles, pick up an eye cream designed to treat those problem areas. The Nurse Jamie EGF Stem Cell Repair Serum is light weight and helps minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

3. It’s All About The Lips

Dermal fillers aren’t for you? No problem. You don’t need fillers like Restylane and Juvederm to plump up your lips. Try a lip plumper like Nurse Jamie’s LIpToxyl, which instantly refines and reshapes lip contour for a fuller, more voluptuous pout. No needles needed!

Moisturize and protect your lips from sun damage using a lipstick or gloss with SPF coverage. The Vibran-C Lip Tint SPF smoothes, soothes and helps prevent chapping and peeling – all with broad spectrum sunscreen protection.

4. Erase Those Dark Circles

The skin around our eyes is normally thin, but as we age we also loose elasticity and plumpness making the skin around the eyes look translucent which makes dark circles appear darker. This can make you appear tired and can add years to your face.

Erase those circles and other under-eye imperfections with a thick eye cream and a yellow-based under-eye concealer. First, lightly apply an eye cream to help hydrate your skin, which prevents and protects. Then apply an under-eye concealer that is one shade lighter than your skin tone.

5. Eyeliner and Mascara are a Girl’s Best Friend

As we age, our skin naturally becomes thinner, our eyes begin to look a little more hollow and we have less fat in our face. Mother Nature gave us wisdom but robbed our skin of its luster and shine.

Applying eyeliner and mascara to our lower lashes can make your eyes look smaller and draw attention to dark circles. Stick to the upper lids. Alex says, “Another trick is to make the line thicker toward the outer corners.” where eyes have a tendency to droop as we age.
