Summer is coming to an end, sigh, and fall is about to sweep in, which means we’re about to see those lovely weather changes in our skin! In the summer months, your skin is more hydrated due to the humidity and hopefully your constant application of SPF and moisturizer, but when the cool fall air takes over, your skin will likely become more dry and susseptable to damage.
So clean out those almost-empty skin care product bottles and give your beauty regimen a revamp that will leave your skin hydrated and glowing all season! Here are 5 ways to change your skin care routine for fall!
1. Assess Your Skin Type
Before you begin purchasing products or booking med spa treatments, make sure you know what your skin type is by using the Skin Scale below. This will help you determine whether to get products for oily skin, dry skin, sensitive skin, normal skin, etc.
As much as I love sunscreen, it may have built up on your skin all summer, which can clog your pores. Give yourself a fresh start for fall with an exfoliating mask like my Dermalase AHA Exfoliating Mask that will give your skin a revitalizing peel that will leave your skin feeling luxurious.
3. Don’t Dry Up
Like I said before, the cooler fall air is much dryer than summer’s which means your skin is more likely to dry up as well. Avoid cracks and damage by switching to a lightweight moisturizer that can be worn, and reapplied all day like my Calming Soothing Relief Moisturizer that will help protect the sensitive lipid layer in your skin.
4. Get Rid of Dead Skin
When your skin gets dryer, you’re more likely to have more dead skin cells building up on the surface (yuck!). This can cause that unsightly ashy appearance not to mention lines and even cellulite! Get an exfoliating beauty device like the Exfoliband Silicone Loofah for a deep, intense clean all over your body and clearer looking skin!
5. Keep Glowing!
Just because summer is gone, doesn’t mean your sunkissed glow has to go too! If you find your face getting a little paler than you’d like it to be, use a fabulous BB Cream with SPF 30 (bonus points for SPF) that will not only give you color, but will protect AND hydrate your skin as well!
6. Love Your Lips
Your lips are one of the first places to dry up when the weather changes, so please don’t forget to show them some love! Exfoliating your lips with a dry toothbrush not only slaughs off the dead skin cells, but can make them appear more volumptuous as well! Don’t forget to always carry chapstick, or add a little vibrancy with Vibran-C Lip Tint with SPF 15 that moisturizes and protects your lips with a healthy sheen!
7. Get Your Beauty Sleep
One of my biggest pet peeves is when my younger clients come in and have no idea why they’re getting wrinkles on the side of their face! Sleeping incorrectly is one of the fastest ways to speed up the aging process on your face, especially if your skin is already dry from the weather! Try to sleep on your back as much as possible, and invest in a Wrinkle Free Satin Pillow that will leave you having sweet, wrinkle-free dreams.
