I may be the only one, but I feel that Retinol, a commonly used skin aid in anti-aging, is so 1980’s! In fact, it was FDA approved as far back as 1971! In the year 2015, it is safe to say that this technology is extremely outdated. The telltale sign of over “retin-Aed” skin is a shiny forehead with overly tight skin (yuck!). To avoid this side effect, there is a recent (and better) anti-aging alternative to obtaining a more youthful appearance. It is from the use of Epidermal Growth Factors or EGF.
How does EGF work?
Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) causes cell turnover and has significant anti-aging effects – including preserving skin’s cells and skin’s overall vitality and radiance – without leaving you red, flaky and shiny. I hate the shiny face, kills me every time I see it. I can spot the “glare” from across the room.
What is a EGF?
Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) is derived from plant stem cells. The EGF sends alerts to other cells in the skin to stimulate the growth of new cells and the production of collagen and elastin. We discovered our unique form of EGF from a rare cultivar of the Gamay Grape. These “power” grapes not only help in the promotion of cell growth, but also assist with their high levels of anthocyanins. This creates a superb antioxidant barrier that slows the free radical-related aging process. Ordinary grapes start their aging and degradation shortly after being exposed to sun and oxygen, but Gamay Grapes can last an unprecedented length of time even under this type of exposure. That’s why we refer to them as “Power Grapes.” When this powerful EGF is applied to the skin. The result is an ageless transformation.
We obtain our EGF from Multiple Natural Sources:
Gamay Grape Stem Cells – Stem cells from the rare Gamay Grape contain unique UV protection properties and one of the highest levels of anthocyanins of any plant on earth, thus a key element in anti-aging and photo-aging protection.
Swiss Apple Stem Cells – Sourced from an endangered apple variety well-known for its ability to go long periods without shriveling, thus defying aging.
Algae Stem Cells – These cells are high in Beta Carotene and B12 which increases cell vitality, metabolism and energizes cell regenerative functions.
So What are the Reasons to Switch?
1. Modernize with up-to-date technology derived from nature!
2. Retinol makes you light sensitive. Growth factors cause cell turnover without making you as light sensitive!
Practicing in California (or really anywhere unless you work as a coal miner), you are most likely going to be in the sun at some point. Therefore, let’s be honest – most of you are not draconian about your sunscreen. Also, the application or dispensing of retinoids to patients whom will end up in sunlight because of well, life, seems a bit unfair due to its side effects! In fact, under sunlight, these Retinol side effects may include the advancing of tumor growth, and some forms of vitamin A may cause free radicals. From there, too much of the vitamin can cause some illnesses. This is key with any retinol that is applied indoor or at night, combining other antioxidants to form a protective barrier from overexposure – which I know most of my patients “slip” from time to time on sunscreen application/sun exposure. I also believe combination therapy of active ingredients (such as Kahai/ EGF) with increased absorption via beauty devices to be a more prudent, but still efficacious regime than use of high amounts of retinols alone.
3. Avoid the “red shiny head” that Retinol brings. Over exfoliation is one of leading causes of acne!
