How To Use Face Oil

If you haven’t already heard about the latest beauty obsession of using face oil, you’re definitely going to want to pay attention! I know that putting oil on your face sounds scary, but it’s actually super beneficial, and can  help treat existing skin problems! That is, if you’re using it right!

Face oil goes on AFTER your moisturizer, NOT before! Why? Because the oil traps in the moisture and keeps it from dissipating!

Why is it important to trap in moisture? Well, most of us have dry skin from life, especially during the fall and winter when the air is drier, and we’re using heaters in our cars and homes. No matter how much moisturizer we put on, it’s still never enough because it too, dries out! So how does face oil prevent your skin from drying out? It creates a moisture barrier over your moisturizer that prevents the air from making it dissipate! That means that your moisturizer and its nutrients have a better chance of absorbing into, and staying in your skin!

Don’t worry about face oils causing breakouts, they wouldn’t be specially formulated for your face if that were the case! In fact, face oil might actually help clear up breakouts, especially if you have oily skin. How?! You may ask…well, with oily type skin, your body is making more oil when it feels like it’s being dried out. So you may be trying to dry out your oily skin when really, it’s causing it to be even more oily! So now your over-drying your skin and your body is working double time to produce more oil, a double fail, but as soon as you add a little oil to your skin care routine, it’ll calm down the amount of oil your body naturally produces!

Face oil also works especially well for achieving restorative, anti-aging effects when you pair it with your favorite rejuvenating face cream, especially when left on over night! So choose a moisturizer specific to your skin type, condition, or concern you’re trying to correct, apply it first, then lock it in with a few drops of facial oil!
